Administrative / biographical background:

Opened in 1824 by the Wesleyan Methodists at Bridge Street (now Chapel Street), off Mill Lane, Sutton. Closed in 1986.

The Day and Sunday School associated with the chapel was built in 1840, and ceased to be used as a Day School in 1906. A volume of minutes of Sunday School Teachers' meetings, 1840-1910, is in the School Records series (Ref. SL 136/1).
